STRASSENHAUS and Public Transportation Every day millions of people have to be transported by local public transport systems in megacities, i.e. with subway, bus, tram, taxi etc. Most cities have public service buses or minibus taxis (in Moscow for example Marschrutnoe Taxi). In contrast to the subway which is the most efficient means of public transportation, local public buses have to compete with millions of private vehicles on the roads. Thus, the local public transport system is also adding to the load of at-grade traffic. Therefore, buses and trains are increasingly transferred to their own lanes or elevated transport lanes. This measure is meant to increase the appeal and efficiency of local public transport systems and thus reduce private passenger vehicle transportation. The findings regarding correlations between the quality of local public transportation and the tendencies towards motorized private transportation have been taken into account in the scope of the ELCITY concept. Road structures in the STRASSENHAUS structure are ideally suited to connect STRASSENHAUS with public transportation and also use public transport on the upper level. This is especially advantageous because STRASSENHAUS is planned to be connected to the most important traffic junctions such as railway stations, connecting stations and airports. As shown in figure 1 a trolleybus line can run alongside the STRASSENHAUS in an uncomplicated way. A separate transportation lane for minibuses or the variants Railcab and mini-trolleybus is established on the upper level. ![]() Figure 1 (a and b): STRASSENHAUS variant: a) with trolleybus line b) with minibus taxi (Marschrutnoe Taxi) Another advantage of the STRASSENHAUS concept is that the routing of the local public transportation system can also pass via the STRASSENHAUS building or in its vicinity. Amongst others, this allows passengers to quickly change between the two transportation systems as is illustrated on figure 2 using the example of a subway station. ![]() Figure 2: STRASSENHAUS and subway entry via the STRASSENHAUS For the connection of a single-rail train (monorail) or other elevated trains to the STRASSENHAUS we recommend separate foundations so that we do not have to modify the STRASSENHAUS construction. Figure 3 and figure 4 show variants of such constructions. ![]() Figure 3 und Figure 4: STRASSENHAUS with Magplane and Monorail Figures 5 and 6 show that two elevated train tracks can be used if two STRASSENHAUS buildings are built close and parallel to each other. ![]() Figure 5: Route taxi integrated into STRASSENHAUS ![]() Figure 6: Monorail integrated into STRASSENHAUS mehr >>
