The STRASSENHAUS Base Modules

Figures 1 to 3 show simple variants of the base module. The road can be built without a noise barrier or it can be completely shut in. The design always depends on the situation at each site.

The cost-effectiveness of STRASSENHAUS increases with the structure’s number of stories and its width. Generally, the width should not be less than 10 m.

If there is not sufficient building ground, STRASSENHAUS will be constructed on pillars similar to elevated road constructions. In this case the cost-effectiveness is lower, since the building has only two functions.

A convenient variant of the base module is the construction of two STRASSENHAUS buildings as close to each other as possible while still complying with all applicable standards regarding the distance of buildings to each other. In figure 4 this distance would be 12 m. The area between the STRASSENHAUS buildings can then be used by building pedestrian precincts with many shops and restaurants similar to the shopping arcades in old European districts.
